It has been a few months since R&B singer R. Kelly has behind bars, and he already seems to have a strong dislike for life as a person in jail.
First, he petitioned the court to be transitioned out of solitary confinement. Then, he complained that it is not fair that he is not allowed to see both of his girlfriends at the same time.
And now, Mr. Kelly has revealed that his health has been declining, citing the conditions in jail as the main reason.
With that in mind, Kelly’s lawyer is trying to petition the courts for the singer’s release because he suffers from numbness in his hands, anxiety, and an untreated hernia.
It is not clear if that will lead anywhere, though, given the nature of the situation around Kelly in general.
The legendary singer and songwriter is facing multiple serious charges, and it is not the kind of case that courts are typically willing to let the person accused walk out on.
It is also worth noting that Kelly is yet to face the court on some of the charges brought up against him. The artist has also been put in some difficult conditions by the legal system.
At one point, an arrest warrant was issued for him for failing to appear in court, even though the Chicago native was actually in prison at that time, and the court was aware of that fact.
Kelly’s lawyer has brought this up on multiple occasions when discussing his current situation, although it seems like his complaints are mostly falling on deaf ears because a federal judge in New York City has denied him bail.
U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly said Kelly is not a candidate for home detention because he “created a risk of him fleeing or tampering with witnesses in the sex abuse case against him.” The singer will appear in court on May 18.
One of Kelly’s fans brought up the case of Amber Guyger, the former Dallas police officer, who killed her neighbor, Botham Jean, in his apartment in 2018 and is now heading to prison to begin a 10-year sentence: “Oh, this is so sad…..But #murdering a person gets you 10yrs.
